5/6 – In November 2021, 10 people died and hundreds were injured at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival in a fatal crowd rush. In the aftermath, hundreds of people have sued Live Nation, Travis Scott and others for their role in the tragedy. The trial, which was supposed to start today, however, has been delayed because Apple, which live-streamed the event, has appealed the trial court’s ruling that it is not immune from potential liability. It has argued that it owed no “legal duty” to the plaintiffs, and that “Recognizing such a legal duty in this case would be entirely unprecedented and would impose significant burdens on broadcasters and livestreamers that are frequently bystanders at events.”
